MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The Irkutsk aircraft production enterprise (IAPO) started supplying SU-30MKI multifunctional fighters to India, a source in the Russian defense industry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The first two planes were sent to the customer on June 22. The supplies happen on an AN-124 Ruslan military transport aircraft.
In general, the Russian party will supply 10 SU-30MKI planes to India this year. Apart from the aircraft supplies the IAPO will deploy licensed production of those planes at enterprises of the Indian HAL corporation.
The contracts signed by the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader and the IAPO on the supplies and licensed production of SU- 35MKI planes in India estimate at some USD4bn.
