Bilateral CPX underway in Siberian, Far Eastern military districts

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The bilateral command post exercise (CPX) that is underway in the Siberian and Far Eastern military districts aims at practicing the troops' involvement in elimination of consequences of emergency situations, the Defense Ministry press service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

The exercise supervised by Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin also aims at rehearsing measures against armed extremist and criminal gangs, a press service official said.

The first stage of the CPX envisages the assessment of actions by the headquarters in elimination of the aftermath of emergencies. The second stage will feature a practice in the troops' participation in the elimination of consequences of emergencies in the course of combating criminal groups.

Moreover, participants in the exercise will practice conduction of territorial and local defense by armed units.

A total number of servicemen involved in the war games exceeds 6,000, the official said.
