KHANKALA. July 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces in southern Chechnya have destroyed a rebel field commander who used the call sign Rizvan on the air, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Tuesday.
The warlord was killed by artillery fire in the vicinity of the Neftyaniki village in the Vedeno district, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. His whereabouts were determined through radio interception, the spokesman said.
Rizvan operated in the Vedeno and Kurchaloi districts from 1999.
