MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax-AVN) - An Airborne Staff commission led by Airborne Commander Georgy Shpak is carrying out an unscheduled inspection of the 7th airborne division under command of Major General Yuri Krivosheyev that is headquartered in the city of Novorossiysk, a competent source in the Airborne Staff said on Wednesday.
"The commission arrived at the unit in accordance with the schedule of sudden inspections of airborne units, the inspection is not related to the results of the General Staff inspection of paratrooper formations that took place in spring," the source told Interfax-Military News Agency.
He noted that the commission members will check the putting of selected units of the division on various stages of alert and relocation of units to concentration areas.
The source did not rule out that landing of several airborne units might take place during the inspection.
A similar commission earlier checked the 106th airborne division under command of Major General Yevgeny Savilov than is headquartered in the city of Tula. Inspection results have not been announced.
The commission will end its work in the 7th division on Friday.
