Major arms trader to provide arrival of customers from 30 foreign countries to Russian Expo Arms 2002 show

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The Rosoboronexport state- owned arms trader will provide the arrival of potential customers from over 30 foreign countries to the Russian Expo Arms 2002 show that is to be held in the city of Nizhny Tagil on July 9 to 13, the company's press service reported on Friday.

Foreign partners will again witness that the Russian military purpose export products are hi-tech ones and judging by their combat characteristics surpass armament and military equipment of leading foreign producers.

Military attaches and officials from foreign companies will see, in particular, combat capabilities of over 20 armament samples. They include the T-90S, T-80UK and T-72M1 tanks, BTR-80A and modernized BTR-70 APCs, Smerch multiple rocket launch systems, Msta-S modernized self-propelled howitzers, Nona self- propelled artillery system and others.

The arms trader will also demonstrate to potential customers modernized variants of earlier exported armament and military equipment. For example, the Smerch system underwent the automation of preparation and launching systems while the range of fire was increased up to 90km. The Smerch currently has onboard control and communication systems, it was integrated with the small reconnaissance system of the Pchela-1 remote-control piloting system. The time for heating a moving target decreased at four to five times.

The considerable place in the show will be occupied by automatic and reconnaissance systems that feature the Slepok-1 automatic system for control over missile brigade, Kapustnik-B automatic system for control over firing from the Grad multiple launch rocket system and towed artillery, Senezh-M1E and Polyana- D4M1 automatic means for control over SAM systems, Zoopark-1 radar for finding missiles and artillery positions and Ulybka 1B44 meteorological system.

The foreign officials will also see effective samples of several system of armament and military equipment including the combat tank support vehicle made on the basis of the T-72 tank, modernized BMP-3 IFV, DT-30PM two-stage tracked floating transporter, Krasnopol KM-1 155mm armament control system, Ataka antitank guided missile, Pecheneg 6P41 7.62mm machine-gun, Kashtan AEK-919K submachine-gun and other armament.
