Federal forces destroy rebel field commander in Chechnya

KHANKALA. July 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces in Chechnya eliminated field commander Khaled who was subordinate to Arab warlord Abu al-Valid, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

"Operations on Khaled's elimination were carried out by federal units near the Enikali village in the Nozhai-Yurt district of the breakaway republic," the spokesman said.

According to reconnaissance data, as a result of special operations that took place near the Ulus-Kart village in the Shatoi district last week two guerillas of the Gariba group, Abu Salekh and Yusef, were heavily wounded. Moreover, two extremists of the Bilala group were wounded near the Serzhen-Yurt village.

"The information on the guerillas elimination and wounding was confirmed by radio interceptions," the spokesman added.
