GROZNY. July 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Two Chechen policemen and one serviceman were killed in an attack on an armored car carrying money in Chechnya's Shatoi district, head of the Shatoi district administration Saidkhasan Duzayev has told Interfax.
A group of unidentified gunmen in camouflage uniforms and masks fired at the vehicle carrying RUB2m (USD63,432) from Gudermes to Shatoi, Duzayev said. They killed policemen from the Shatoi district police department Omali Khazuyev and Visaid Medigov and Denis Malyshev, serviceman from military commandant's office of the district.
One of the attackers was also killed in the clash, but his identity has not yet been established.
The attackers, however, failed to get the money, Duzayev said. The driver of the car and a woman accompanying the money, who was the chief of the Shatoi post office, were not hurt in the attack. An investigative team is working at the scene, and measures are being taken to establish and detain the organizers and perpetrators of the crime.
