Military equipment parade takes place at Russian Expo Arms 2002 show

NIZHNY TAGIL. July 9 (Interfax-AVN) - A parade of military equipment that involved some 20 pieces of ordnance and almost 30 vehicles took place at the Russian Expo Arms 2002 show that is underway in the city of Nizhny Tagil in the Sverdlovsk region.

The parade was led by the legendary T-34 tank while T-72M1, T-90S, T-80UK tanks, 2S19M1 self-propelled artillery system, BTR- 80, BTR-80M and modernized BTR-70 APCs were riding in front of grand stands with official guests.

The parade of vehicles involved automobiles of the KamAZ JSO, AvtoUral production enterprise, Ural automobile engine plant and 5th central automobile repairing plant of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The parade was completed with the demonstration of 9A83-1 launch part of the S-300V SAM system made by the Kalinin machine- building plant and designed by the Moscow-based Antei and Yekaterinburg-based Novator design bureaux.

Among the guests who attended the ceremony were Sergey Mironov, chairman of the Federation Council upper house of Russian parliament, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, vice speaker of the State Duma lower house of Russian parliament, Andrey Belyaninov, director general of the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader, Russian Ammunition Agency's Director General Zinovy Pak and Sverdlovsk region Governor Eduard Rossel.
