MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Representatives of the CIS member-states will discuss the military-technical cooperation under the auspices of the Collective Security Treaty on Thursday, the press service of the CIS military cooperation coordination headquarters reported on Wednesday.
The discussion will take place at the session of the military and technical committee of the CIS Defense Ministers Council. He also said one of the topics to be discussed at the session would be elaboration of cooperation between the CIS members in arms repairs.
A competent source in the headquarters told Interfax- Military News Agency that "only several pieces of armament of the national armed services in Central Asia need repairs or modernization, while there are serious technical and bureaucratic obstacles preventing any decision from being made to solve this problem of collective security."
The source also said that the session would be participated in by representatives of the defense ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Invitations were also sent to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, as well to representatives of the CIS executive body, the secretariat of the Collective Security Council and of the Russian committee for military-technical cooperation with foreign countries.
