GROZNY. July 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Interior Ministry servicemen and special services agents eliminated a rebel camp in Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan district in a forest outside the village of Samashki on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Federal Security Service department for Chechnya told Interfax.
Rebels tried to break out of an encirclement and offered armed resistance, opening fire at the federals. One rebel was killed and another was seriously wounded.
The federal servicemen and agents blasted blindages, stocks with arms and foodstuffs. They also confiscated portable anti- tank grenade launchers, grenades and over 3,000 cartridges.
The operation is still underway.
