Baltic border services intend to guard EU's eastern borders

VILNIUS. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Representatives of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian border services will meet to discuss the Baltic countries' preparations for guarding the European Union's eastern borders, a source in the Lithuanian border guard service told Interfax on Thursday.

This issue will be addressed during a two-day meeting between the Baltic border guard service chiefs, the source said.

A strong accent will be put on routine work to increase the capacity of the border checkpoints between the Baltic countries, to make them more efficient and to perfect the system of information exchanges, he said.

The Baltic countries' officials will make an inspection trip to the state border with Belarus.
