STAVROPOL. July 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Border guards troops of the North Caucasus regional department have completed reinforcement at the Main Caucasus Range with the reserve units from the Trans-Baikal and the Far East.
A spokesman for the department's headquarters told Interfax- Military News Agency on Friday that "almost all outposts and temporary frontier posts have been reinforced."
He also said that the outposts and frontier patrols continue staying on alert. Communications are being maintained with the units.
The spokesman added that at the same time assets are being beefed up at the Russian-Azerbaijani border and at its Abkhzazian part, with the aim of detecting rebels and their arms caches as well as studying the adjacent terrain in detail and developing the system of fires.
"The border guard troops gain control over 178 passes at the Main Caucasus Range," the spokesman is quoted as saying.
