Russian Space Troops, Moscow region sign cooperation agreement

MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Space Troops Commander Anatoly Perminov and Moscow Region Governor Boris Gromov signed an agreement on cooperation in social and cultural spheres on Tuesday.

"The Space Troops have a solid representation in the Moscow region and that is why it is impossible to accomplish the missions they are assigned without such an agreement," Perminov said after the signing of the document. Gromov stressed that joint working groups would be set up in the near future "in order to back the agreement with specific programs."

In particular, the region's administration will help units of the Space Troops stationed outside Moscow to tackle healthcare, cultural, social and housing issues. Close cooperation is to be established between municipal bodies of the Moscow region and large units of the Space Troops. Selection of the best recruits for service in local Space Troops units will be organized in the region as well.

The Space Troops are planning to take part in military- patriotic and moral upbringing of the region's youth.
