Deputy military commandant of Chechnya's Vedeno district detained for taking bribe

GROZNY. July 24 (Interfax-AVN)- A deputy military commandant of the Vedeno district in Chechnya was detained while taking a bribe, the Chechen branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB) told Interfax on Wednesday.

The officer's identity has not been disclosed. The operation was conducted by special service officers. The FSB branch for Chechnya said that the detainee was extorting money from a serviceman. During an initial investigation, the detainee admitted to the crime.

The relevant materials have already been handed over to the command, the FSB branch said.
