GROZNY. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Ten rebels were killed and a large amount of weapons and ammunition was confiscated as a result of a special operation conducted by the federal troops near Tsotsin- Yurt, 40km southeast of Grozny, Colonel Ilya Shabalkin, a representative of the regional headquarters running the anti- guerrilla operation in the North Caucasus, told Interfax on Friday.
A reconnaissance group landed 2km away from the village on Thursday morning. A VAZ-2107 vehicle that was passing by did not comply with the command to stop and passengers opened heavy fire on the military.
A rebel called for support by using a radio and two groups of rebels, with up to ten people each, went to help him from the village shortly. The federal troops, who were lying in ambush, killed them. The federal troops did not suffer any losses. Two guns, five Kalashnikov rifles, anti-tank grenade launchers, a pistol, grenades and other ammunition were found on the accident scene. The people killed in the clash are being identified.
The head of the local administration was earlier killed in this village.
