LONDON. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A Russian-German agreement on the establishment of a logistics support center for the Russian Kamov helicopters was signed at the Farnborough 2002 air show on Friday.
The document was signed by officials of the Kamov enterprise, Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader and R.E.T. Kronshtadt company on behalf of Russia and by officials of the Atlas Elektronik company on behalf of Germany.
The center will be established in order to promote KA-series helicopters more effectively on the global market. In particular, the center will organize the training of flight personnel meeting global standards as well as carry out technical servicing of exported helicopters.
According to participants in the project, the center will primarily train flight and technical personnel for helicopters sold to South Korea and Canada. These two countries operate a total of over 40 Kamov aircraft.
The center will be located at the Chaklovsky airfield in the Moscow region.
