TBILISI. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgia and Russia might sign a bilateral framework treaty as early as September, spokesman for the Georgian Foreign Ministry Kakha Sikharulidze said.
Negotiations to prepare the framework treaty between Georgia and Russia, which were held in Moscow this week, were very dynamic and constructive, Sikharulidze said at a Friday news briefing in Tbilisi.
"The parties have managed to make such substantial progress that the treaty could be ready for signing sometime in September," he said.
"If some Russian politicians believe that the framework treaty with Georgia should not be ratified because of crime issues on Georgian territory, this approach will not likely meet Russia's state interests," Sikharulidze said.
