Russia signed several contracts at Farnborough air show

LONDON. July 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian aircraft-makers have signed several contracts and agreements at the international air show that ended in Farnborough near London on Sunday.

"Russian participation in Farnboroguh-2002 was marked by the signing of several important documents," deputy head of Rosoboronexport arms trading company Viktor Komardin told Interfax- Military News Agency summing up the results of the show.

He said that Rosoboronexport and the British Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. signed a contract for launching seven mini satellites from the Russian Plesetsk space center in 2002-2004. The Volga-Dnieper airlines and Perm Engine Plant agreed to implement a program of changing the engines of IL-76 Candid aircraft. A Russian- German agreement was concluded on setting up a logistical support center for Kamov helicopters.

In addition talks were held with representatives of over 30 countries among them Great Britain, the United States, France, South Africa, China, Malaysia, India, Jordan, Algeria, Kuwait, Indonesia, Germany and others.

Komardin said the most promising negotiations were connected with advancing SU-30 Flanker multi-role fighters, upgrading MI-17 Hip and MI-24 Hind helicopters and delivering simulators.

He said Rosoboronexport intends to take most active part in the next air show in Farnborough in two years.
