Federal units destroy two guerrilla camps in Chechnya's Nozhai-Yurt district

KHANKALA. July 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal units have destroyed two guerrilla camps for 50-60 people in Chechnya's Nozhai- Yurt district, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.

"One of bandits' temporary stationing points was found near the Malye Shuani village and the other near the Shchena village," the spokesman said.

He stressed that tents, sleeping bags and sets of foreign uniform, as well as seven portable antitank grenade launchers, 16 grenade launcher rounds, two landmines, over 1kg of explosives and 4,000 cartridges were stored in the camps.

Federal forces carried out a total of 16 special operations in the Nozhai-Yurt, Shali, Shatoi, Kurchaloi and Urus-Martan districts on Monday. As a result 11 rebels were killed and 65 suspected ones detained. Federals also found and destroyed 18 small-arms pieces, 18 artillery shells, 12 portable antitank grenade launchers, some 9kg of explosives and 23,000 cartridges, the spokesman added.
