KHANKALA. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal SU-24 Fencer and SU- 25 Frogfoot planes flew 10 sorties in Chechnya on Tuesday including eight combat missions, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"According to preliminary data, federal aircraft destroyed a rebel base, four strongpoints, two communication points in forest- covered mountains and established a roadblock on a mountain pass," the spokesman said.
According to him, Russian planes and helicopters did not violate the state border with Georgia.
"All aviation strikes were inflicted on earlier detected targets and far from villages," the spokesman stressed.
According to him, MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters flew over 30 sorties to escort military convoys and inflict air strikes on small guerrilla groups. MI-8 Hip helicopter crews carried out seven surveillance missions and delivered over 100 people and some 4t of technical cargo to border guard units.
MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo helicopters airlifted some 100 people and 5.5t of cargo in the interests of the unified federal group and Chechen economy.
IL-18 Coot, AN-24 Coke and AN-12 Cub transport planes flew four sorties, airlifting nearly 300 people and 11t of technical cargo to Mozdok, the main federal base in the North Caucasus, and back to central Russia.
