GROZNY. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - A Chechen elite police force was attacked in the republic's Vedeno district on Wednesday morning.
Sergeant Ruslan Ustrakhanov was killed and Private Abdi Solsayev was seriously wounded.
The unit was returning from Vedeno after a special mission. Mass fire was opened on the policemen near a bridge in the center of the village of Dyshne-Vedeno, Deputy Head of the Chechen Police Colonel Akhmed Dakayev told Interfax.
Automatic weapon bursts were fired from a car.
A reserve police group that arrived at the scene of the attack detained three village residents suspected of involvement in the crime, said Dakayev.
A week ago, rebels blasted a Chechen elite police vehicle in the same area, killing three policemen.
