Commission on defense industry reform holds first session in Moscow

MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - The commission on implementation of the federal purpose-oriented program for defense industry restructuring and development in 2002-2006 held its first section in Moscow on Wednesday.

The session took place at the main office of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies and was chaired by Minister Ilya Klebanov, chief of the ministry's public relations department Andrei Mazurov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Two issues were on the agenda - the draft standing orders of the commission and the draft government resolution "Concerning the Order of Establishment of Integrated Structures in the Defense Industry," Mazurov said.

The next session scheduled for August will consider and adopt the plan of the commission's work. The commission is expected to hold sessions twice a month starting from September. It will consider establishment of each integrated company separately.

In response to a question from Interfax-Military News Agency, Mazurov refuted media reports that the first session considered expulsion of several enterprises from the Almaz-Antei consortium, an integrated air defense industry enterprise that is being established at present.

"This information does not correspond to reality. The issue was not considered and was not planned for consideration," he said.
