MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax-AVN) - While conducting combat training in August, the Russian Land Forces will concentrate on harmonization within battalions and practicing tactics within reinforced task forces taking into account the experience gained in the North Caucasus.
The month-long training of motorized rifle, paratrooper, airborne assault and reconnaissance units within districts and marine units of fleets will end in battalion-level and tactical exercises with live firing, Lieutenant General Alexander Gerasimov, acting head of the Armed Forces main combat training department, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
"The exercises with live firing are distinguished from other similar war games because they are to be held together with units that can be attached to a battalion or will support it in accordance with their intent and combat missions. At the same time, aspects of combat interaction between various forces will be practiced in full against the tactical background that is as intensive as possible," Gerasimov stressed.
Officials of the combat training department will check the organization and efficiency of summer combat training in several units of the Moscow military district in the second half of August, he said.
