TBILISI. Aug 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgia has announced that its border guards established permanent communication with Russian colleagues on Thursday in the wake of an escalation of tensions on the Chechen strap of the state border.
The communication is maintained with the North Caucasus regional border guard department headquartered in Stavropol, chief- of-staff of the Georgian State Border Guard Department Colonel Kornely Salia told Interfax-Military News Agency.
He said that the command of the Russian department had proposed arrangement of a high-level meeting in the near future.
