Russian heli violates Georgian airspace - Georgian border guard officials

TBILISI. Aug 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian border guard officials said that a Russian helicopter violated the nation's airspace on Friday.

Shalva Londaridze, press service chief of the Georgian State Border Guard Department, told Interfax-Military News Agency that the Russian combat helicopter entered the Georgian airspace across the Chechen strap of the border in the area controlled by the Girevi border picket at about 8:30 a.m. local time on Friday.

Unlike border violations registered on Monday and Tuesday, there were no bombings this time, Londaridze said.

"Having performed several maneuvers, the helicopter returned to Russia," he added.
