KHANKALA. Aug 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The army aviation group in Chechnya increased the intensity of flights with combat and logistics support missions last week, a spokesman for the army aviation command within the Combined Federal Force told Interfax- Military News Agency on Monday.
"Helicopter crews fly 100 to 120 sorties every day. Aviators accomplished a total of some 1,200 flight tasks last week," the spokesman said.
MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters destroyed six extremist bases, four camps, some 15 caches with arms and ammo and three guerrilla groups comprising up to seven people each, the spokesman stressed.
Transport helicopters delivered over 160t of cargo and 3,500 servicemen in the interests of the federal group.
"The aviators airlifted over 100 reconnaissance groups to search areas, provided aerial support to 20 military columns and five trains," the spokesman added.
Frontline aviation accomplished up to 70 missions last week. The aircraft inflicted nearly 30 strikes on rebel bases in Chechen mountains. Three camps, up to 10 caches with arms and ammo and three automobiles were destroyed as a result.
