KHANKALA. Aug 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Eight field commanders were destroyed in Chechnya in July, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
"Last month 248 guerillas were eliminated in Chechnya. Among them are eight field commanders, including several well-known people. In particular, one of them is Visita Tsukoyev also known as Abu Sayaf. He took part in battles since the very beginning of the anti-terrorist operation. He was engaged in numerous combat clashes with guerrilla groups," the spokesman said.
Also on the list of destroyed warlords are Asudalla, leader of a guerrilla group subordinate to warlord Abu al Valid, Bislan Kukayev, reconnaissance chief from a rebel group of earlier terminated so-called brigadier general Khizar Khachukayev, Takhyr Yevgushiyev, emir of the Nogai battalion, Ramzan Khamzatkhanov and Umar Magomadov.
"Two more field commanders, emir of Shali Anzor Akimov and Aslan Batsiyev, are detained," the spokesman stressed.
He added that 1,030 suspected extremists were detained in Chechnya in July.
