KHANKALA. Aug 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Four officers of the Russian Interior Ministry were wounded in Chechnya on Monday, a spokesman for the headquarters of the federal force in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
He said federal positions came under fire five times. In particular, a composite police detachment was attacked by rebels using grenade launchers and assault rifles in the Martan-Chu village, Urus-Martan district on Monday afternoon. The fire lasted for 30 to 40 minutes. Federals fired back. Sergeant Petrashkov, 27, and Senior Sergeant Varov, 26, were wounded in the engagement.
"Both policemen have wounds that pose no danger to their lives. The men were delivered to an Interior Ministry hospital on the Severny airfield in Grozny," the spokesman said.
A UAZ cross-country vehicle carrying elite police officers on patrol came under fire in the Zavodskoi district of Grozny. "Sergeant Major Chernoyarov was wounded and sent to the same hospital," the spokesman said.
