MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Personnel of the 39th separate railway battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Orlov worked on the restoration of the movement of trains near the town of Adler overnight to Wednesday, Deputy Railway Troops Commander Lieutenant General Yevgeny Kornishin said.
The battalion was put on high alert at 11:00 p.m. (1900 GMT) on Tuesday and started repairs and restoration of railway on the most complicated part which is the span between the Yakornaya Shchel and Chemitokvadzhe localities of the North Caucasus railroad, Kornishin told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Some 30 railway servicemen combated mudslides with the help of bulldozers and dredgers. They restored damaged parts of the railway near Adler. Thanks to the harmonization of actions no passenger trains blocked on the territory were damaged in the course of the operation," Kornishin stressed.
According to him, the repairs and restoration will happen up until the start of movement of trains on the Sochi-Tuapse span. "An operations group formed on the territory is controlling the situation with mudslides near Adler. If there is a need we will increase the number of personnel and equipment for the restoration of traffic in the area," the deputy commander added.
