KALININGRAD. Aug 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Two minesweepers of the Baltic Fleet will visit the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda in September, the fleet's commander Admiral Vladimir Valuyev told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
At the same time Lithuanian combat vessels will call at the port of Baltiysk in May 2003, when the Russian Navy is to celebrate its 300th anniversary.
"This will be the first visit of Russian vessels to Lithuania after the collapse of the Soviet Union," Valuyev said. He did not rule out that Russian servicemen would participate in the Amber Hope war games that are to take place in Lithuania in 2003.
"The Baltic Fleet has already got experience in such exercises. Three years ago our marine platoon participated in joint actions with Danish military on the territory of Denmark," Valuyev added.
