GROZNY. Aug 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Two servicemen of the Interior Ministry troops were injured in Chechnya when accomplishing combat missions, a spokesman for the troops command in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"A sapper was injured when eliminating an extremist base near the Bas-Gordali village in the Nozhai-Yurt district. It happened as a result of the blast of an explosive device planned in a dug-out. The serviceman was taken to the Khankala military hospital. His life is out of danger," the spokesman said.
The guerrilla base was destroyed at about 6:00 p.m. (1400 GMT) on Thursday. A special service unit found a cache with arms and ammo in the base's territory.
Another serviceman of the 46th separate operational brigade was seriously wounded when rebels attacked guards of the permanent stationing point of the 358th operational brigade in the Chervlyonnaya village of the Shelkovskaya district. The guerillas fired small-arms and grenade launchers at the brigade on Thursday afternoon. The serviceman was wounded in the chest by a grenade explosion.
"Doctors of the Khankala hospital saved the serviceman's life," a spokesman for the command of the 46th brigade told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
