Federal stabs fellow serviceman in Chechnya

SHALI, Chechnya. Aug 20 (Interfax-AVN) - A federal serviceman has got a stab wound in Chechnya as a result of hazing, a spokesman for the 42nd motorized rifle division headquarters said on Tuesday.

The serviceman belonged to the 50th self-propelled artillery regiment of the division that is stationed in Chechnya on a permanent basis, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Private Radchenko, a driver, stabbed his fellow Private Mishenko at about 8:00 p.m. Moscow time (1600 GMT) on Monday. The soldier was immediately sent to hospital, his wound is not dangerous for his life," the spokesman said.

The division commander has ordered thorough investigation of the incident.

Military prosecutors have launched a criminal case in connection with the incident.
