KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR. Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - North Korean leader Kim Chong-il has visited the Gagarin aircraft-building association (KnAAPO) in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia's Khabarovsk region.
He began his tour of the enterprise by visiting the most advanced computer center in the Russian aircraft-building industry.
He inquired about whether computer simulation of production processes leads to cuts in personnel, and how it accelerates production and improves the quality of products.
He was shown how fighters are assembled and what new methods and equipment are being used.
Kim also visited an exhibition of civilian products. In a guest book, he wrote that he profoundly respects the glorious traditions of Russian aircraft builders.
A dinner at which Korean and Russian dishes were served was given in the North Korean leader's honor at the factory canteen.
