Social protection ranked among priorities of Russia's chemical weapons scrapping program

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Social protection of employees of chemical weapons destruction facilities is among the main priorities of the Russian chemical weapons destruction program, Director General of the Russian Ammunition Agency Zinovy Pak said on Thursday.

"It is very important for us that those employed at Russia's first full-scale chemical weapons scrapping facility in Gorny in the Saratov region and other facilities under construction have no problems," Pak told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Pak has invited experts from Germany, the United States and other donor countries to work in Gorny saying that all conditions would be created for them. A modern residential compound with cottage-type houses has been built near the facility.

The employees will work at the facility in tours, Pak said. About 70 percent of them will arrive from other regions and locals will make up for the other 30 percent.

A series of laws have been passed recently to guarantee social security of employees of chemical weapons scrapping facilities, Pak noted.
