Georgian anti-aircraft force unable to hit high altitude targets

TBILISI. Aug 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian anti-aircraft force does not have the weapons to hit targets at high altitude, Defense Minister David Tevzadze told journalists on Friday.

On Friday morning, Georgian territory was bombed from an altitude of about 8,000 meters. Georgia does not possess the weaponry "to shoot down aircraft at such an altitude," Tevzadze said.

Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili pointed out that despite the bombing of the border area, the ministry's troops will soon be deployed to the Pankisi Gorge in keeping with the president's instructions.
