GROZNY. Aug 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Three rebels were captured in the village of Avtury in Chechnya's Shali district by federal servicemen engaged in a special operation, a spokesman for the regional operational headquarters in charge of the anti-guerrilla operation in the North Caucasus said on Friday.
"The arrested men have confessed their guilt and said that they are members of bandit gangs led by field commanders Baderiyev and Itayev," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Six special operations were carried out in Chechnya's Nozhai- Yurt, Grozny rural, Shali, Achkhoi-Martan and Kurchaloi districts in the past 24 hours, he said. Federal servicemen seized eight pieces of small-arms, 14 artillery shells, three grenade launchers, 18 hand grenades, three mortar shells and about 4,000 cartridges.
