KYIV. Aug 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine has replaced its air force commander after the airplane crash that took place during an air show near the Ukrainian city of Lviv on July 27.
Yaroslav Skalko was appointed air force chief under a decree announced by Defense Minister Volodymyr Shkidchenko on Friday.
Earlier, Skalko served as deputy director of the State Air Transport Department of Ukraine's Transport Ministry, a position the Defense Ministry had delegated him to.
He received the rank of lieutenant general last year.
He succeeds Viktor Strelnikov, who was dismissed after the air show tragedy.
