TBILISI. Aug 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze denounced a parliamentary resolution initiating procedures for Georgia's secession from the CIS and the withdrawal of the country's peacekeepers from Abkhazia.
"Before this step is implemented, its outcome must be fully assessed. The parliament has the right to pass resolutions; however, the president has the last word," Shevardnadze told reporters in the town of Akhmeta.
Shevardnadze returned to Tbilisi after visiting the Pankisi Gorge and the Akhmeta district.
