Ukrainian Motor Sich company to demonstrate four engines at Gidroaviasalon 2002 show

ZAPORIZHZHIA, Ukraine. Aug 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Zaporizhzhia-based Motor Sich JSO will represent Ukraine at the Gidroaviasalon 2002 international show that is to happen in the town of Gelendzhik on September 4 to 8.

This year the company will demonstrate four engines at the show. The engines are to be not models but real operating samples, an official in the Motor Sich's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

The first engine is the D-436TP that is mounted on Russian BE-200 amphibians. Those aircraft with the company's engines correspond not only to current but also to future ICAO norms on toxic exhausts and noise level. This was reached thanks to the engine's designer, the Progress design bureau, that developed a low emission encircling propulsion chamber. The serial production of D-436TP will be carried out in cooperation with the Moscow- based Salyut enterprise and Ufa-based engine production company.

For the first time the Motor Sich will demonstrate the brand new AI-450 engine designed by the Progress design bureau and envisaged for mounting on KA-226, Ansat and other helicopters having the cargo capacity of 1,500-4,000kg. This year the Ukrainian company together with the Kamov JSO will start production of KA-226 helicopters with AI-450 engines in the city of Zaporizhzhia. This multifunctional helicopter corresponds to A and B flight readiness categories and will be certified in accordance with US standards. The helicopter could land on water as well, the official said.

At present the whole world is eager not only to produce new but also to modernize existing aircraft. Modern engines made together by Ukrainian and Russian designers and producers provide new capabilities for existing planes and helicopters, the official stressed.

The VK-1500 and VK-2500 engines to be demonstrated at the show were manufactured together by the Klimov plant and Motor Sich JSO. The experience of the past decade shows that there is not alternative to the cooperation. Only unifying intellectual potential and resources the Russian and Ukrainian aircraft production industry will be capable to stand for its traditional markets and win new ones. That is why the Motor Sich company maintains full responsibility in all projects with its Russian partners, the official added.
