MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian-American consultative group will hold a session in Washington on September 19 to discuss bilateral strategic cooperation and international security, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov told reporters in Moscow on Thursday.
"The group will discuss practically all issues that are vital for bilateral relations and international security," he said.
"At the session, we will lay the foundation for implementing the Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty and mechanisms of control for it. The group will also consider the fight against international terrorism and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," Ivanov said.
"Our presidents and parliaments are unanimous in the opinion that these two problems pose a serious threat not only to Russia and the United States, but also to the whole world," the minister said. "We must elaborate common approaches to the destruction of international terrorism hotbeds without any double standards."
The Russian-American consultative group, which was set up at the decision of the two presidents, is made up of the defense and foreign ministers of Russia and the United States.
