ST.PETERSBURG. Aug 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The total volume of contracts signed by the Russian Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies in 2002 with the Russian Conventional Weapons Agency is estimated at RUB118.4m (USD3.75m), press secretary of the agency's director general Leonid Bratkin said on Thursday.
"The development of eight system projects on the establishment of integration bodies within the agency's enterprises started under the auspices of those contracts," Bratkin stressed.
He noted that the work was carried out by scientific organizations and industrial enterprises within the framework of competitions held by the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies in accordance with the program on the defense industry reform envisaged for 2002-2006.
"In 2002 the agency is one of the state customers on federal purpose-oriented programs such as the National Technological Base for 2002-2006 and Reform and Development of the Defense Industry for 2002-2006," Bratkin went on.
An expanded session of the agency's board is underway in St. Petersburg. The session participants sum up results on the activities of enterprises and organizations in the first half of 2002 and discuss tasks for the second half as well as ways of their accomplishment.
Bratkin added that an order of Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov was made public at the session stating that the agency's director general Alexander Nozdrachev is promoted in military ranks.
