ST.PETERSBURG. Sept 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the Leningrad military district's SAM brigade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Kozlov arrived at the Ashuluk proving range, the district's press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
"A SAM brigade commanded by Colonel Yury Komar has successfully executed tactical exercises and completed combat launches from the Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile systems and is now heading for its permanent stationing area in north-western Russia making space for Kozlov-commanded troops," the official said.
He stressed that the Volga region which homes Ashuluk proving range offers opportunities to carry out missile firings from the S-300V SAM systems and provide most sophisticated air targets for tactical exercises.
"The test field will soon receive the 138th separate motorize rifle brigade's SAM battalion equipped with up-to-date Osa missiles. This autumn the Leningrad military district forces will have plenty of planned combat training for air defense troops," the official added.
