TBILISI. Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - An investigation on the detention of three Georgian border guards at the Mamisoni pass on the North Ossetian strap of the border will start in the Georgian Border Guard Department on Friday, the department's press service chief Shalva Londaridze said.
He stressed that all border guards handed by the Russian party on Thursday are alive and well.
"The border guards say that they were lost and entered the Russian territory but the fact should be registered officially," Londaridze told Interfax-Military News Agency.
On Tuesday a patrol of the Vladikavkaz detachment subordinate to Russia's North Caucasus regional border guard department detained three Georgian border guards, an officer and two soldiers, who entered the Russian territory near the Mamisoni pass. AK-74 assault rifles and ammo were confiscated from the detainees.
