BE-200 amphibian sets nine records at Gidroaviasalon 2002 air show

GELENDZHIK. Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Lieutenant General Dmitry Morozov, chief of armament and deputy Air Force commander, flew a record sortie on the BE-200 amphibian at the Gidroaviasalon 2002 air show on Friday.

The amphibian set nine world records in the sphere of climbing speed among the hydroplanes class aircraft.

In particular, the amphibian's crew set records on the terms of climbing at the heights of 3,000, 6,000 and 9,000km without cargo and with the commercial cargo amounting to 1,000 and 2,000kg. All those records are preliminary ones and will be approved three months later in accordance with the standards of the records registering organization.

The BE-200 amphibian has the maximum take-off weight from the ground mounts up to 37,200kg, the flight service ceiling being 8,000 meters. Maximum speed is 700 kilometers per hour, economical speed is 530 kilometers per hour. The maximum range is 3,850 kilometers, weight of water in one intake is up to 270 tonnes. The aircraft can carry 72 people; the volume of the tanks is 12 cubic meters.

The BE-200 multi-purpose amphibious jet aircraft was designed by the Beriyev Aircraft Research and Technical Association in the town of Taganrog. The serial production is mastered by the Irkutsk aircraft production enterprise. The BE- 200 program is being implemented by the BETA-IR joint venture of Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine, ILTA TRADE FINANCE S.A. and the Ukrainian commercial industrial investment bank.
