Last fragments of Kursk sub blown up on Barents Sea bed

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The effort to blow up the fragments of the first section of the Kursk nuclear submarine was successfully completed on Sunday, a high-ranking official the Russian Navy headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

"Fragments of the first section that were lying on the bed of the Barents Sea have been blown up. The Tiger and Venom underwater video devices have been suspended from the rescue ship Altai to examine the seabed after the explosion," he said.

The operation will either be wound up or another explosion will be conducted, depending on the results of the examination.
