TBILISI. Sept 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze told the press on his return from Baku on Thursday that he hopes for normalization of Georgia-Russia relations in the aftermath of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Chisinau.
Shevardnadze would not comment on "the offending remarks made by numerous Russian military commanders about the Georgian leaders." He said that senior Defense Ministry officials will do so.
Deteriorating Georgian-Russian relations did not come up for discussion at his meetings in Baku.
