TBILISI. Sept 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Tbilisi office of the Council of Europe will make regular reports on processes in the volatile Pankisi Gorge to the council's cabinet of ministers, parliamentary assembly and Secretary General Walter Schwimmer.
This will be done in line with personal instructions from Schwimmer, Zurab Zhvania, member of the Georgian delegation to the Council of Europe, told Georgian parliament on Thursday.
Schwimmer is interested in the progress on the anti-criminal operation that was launched in the gorge by Georgian law- enforcement agencies on August 25.
The gorge ceased to be uncontrolled after the beginning of the operation, said Zhvania, who is a former chairman of Georgian parliament.
The Council of Europe will soon send a mission to Pankisi to study situation in this Georgian region, Zhvania said.
