KHANKALA. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Two residents of the Sleptsovskaya village located in the Ingush autonomous republic have been detained near the village of Galashki for helping guerrillas from warlord Ruslan Gelayev's group.
"Two residents of the Sleptsovskaya village were hired by guerrillas to guide them from Ingushetia to Chechnya, and after the group was blocked in Galashki the men used their own UAZ-452 and VAZ-2107 cars to deliver foodstuffs and medicines to rebels," a source in the regional operational headquarters in charge of the Chechnya campaign told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"The detainees are being interrogated to establish possible routes of separate guerrilla groups' retreat, as well as places when they could be hiding," the source said.
Federals conducting search operations in the area of the engagement with Gelayev's gang have found a huge number of arms, ammo and explosives. In particular, Igla portable SAM systems, an RPG-7V grenade launcher, electric wires, 24 electric detonators, 200g TNT charges, fuses, PRG-7 grenade launcher rounds, instructions on demolition, detailed maps and plans of southern Ingushetia have been seized.
