One more rebel group crosses over from Georgia - 58th army headquarters

VLADIKAVKAZ, North Ossetia. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN)- The headquarters of the North Caucasus military district's 58th army said that it has received confirmation that the large rebel group that was sealed off by federal troops near the Ingush village of Galashki on Thursday did not cross the Russia-Georgia border alone.

The 58th army's units are conducting an anti-guerrilla operation near the village of Galashki. According to official reports, 50-60 rebels and 17 federal servicemen have been killed.

"Today, special services have intercepted a radio report according to which another rebel group is now located near the administrative border between Ingushetia and North Ossetia. Intensive search efforts are currently underway in the area," a headquarters source told Interfax on Friday.

According to the source, numerous weapons, including portable anti-aircraft systems and munitions, were seized during the anti- rebel operation near Galashki. The military believe that the weapons and munitions were previously stored at rebel bases and caches in Chechnya and Ingushetia.
