TBILISI. Sept 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian border guards and OSCE observers that monitor the Ingush strap of the Georgian- Russian border registered two powerful blasts in Georgia on Sunday.
"On Sunday, Georgian border guards and OSCE observers registered two powerful blasts on the Ingush strap of the Georgian- Russian border 8km from the Chimgi village," head of the Georgian State Border Guard Department Shalva Londaridze told Interfax- Military News Agency.
"The area is deserted, and no information on casualties is available," Londaridze said.
According to him, "local residents say that they heard aircraft engines roar shortly before the blasts."
"It is too early to say that the Georgian territory was bombed. We will be able to speak about causes of the blasts only after a special commission of the Border Guard Department examines the area," Londaridze stressed.
"The terrain is rough in the area, moreover, it is covered by thick fog. The commission will leave for the scene of the blasts as soon as the weather improves," he concluded.
